Marie Gueye Couture

Marie Gueye, now a key icon of Senegalese and African fashion, was born in Dakar and the eldest of a family of 8 children.
Marie had a sense of initiative and entrepreneurship from a very young age. She spent most of her childhood in the city center of Dakar, where she attended the Thiers school and then in Saint Michel for her secondary studies.
At the same time, Marie Gueye is taking sweeping lessons at the Mudra Afrique dance school. Very early on attracted by styling, young Marie, at the height of her 12 years, made her first clothes.
From then on, she spends her time visiting textile shops where she buys scraps of fabric and shapes them for her sisters, her daughter and herself.
Ambitious, Marie did not forget her studies and therefore continued her education at the prestigious École Blanc Léman in Montreux in Switzerland, from which she graduated in 1996. Immediately, she began to sell luxury fabrics from Switzerland. and from Austria to Senegal.
Its philosophy is to remain innovative by making high quality clothes in a Senegalese spirit. She uses a minimalist design to achieve a traditional style with a modern influence always taking inspiration from Senegalese culture and women.
